met my friend Juan this morning to hunt a long gone football field. it was a public school field from the teens- the 70's. He told me it has been searched for years by others. and i told him, " most likely not by E Trac and V3I. it started off slow, just finding newer coins and trash. kids still play here. so randomly, i pick the sideline edge and start slowly making my way toward the endzone. finding a few wheats and ofcourse pulltabs and other "NICKEL" signal trash. hoping for a gold ring!! ( not ) soon i get a screaming 11-46 @ 6". so without hesitastion, I begin cutting a textbook plug hoping for a silver dime, quarter, or a ring. " BOOM BABY ! " just kidding, i didnt say that crap. well now I had to tell Juan theres " roundness in the hole " yea.... didnt say that either.. ( ha ) got my first Merc of the day. so, while checking the hole for a possible multiple, Juan walks up to show off his great find. a super nice Vintage sterling ring with a turquoise stone. he begins to show me and i hold up the merc. we do the congrats and begin again. well i guess i was in a hot spot that EVERYONE else missed. the sweet, deep sounds of silver just kept coming. ended up pulling out 5 silvers in a 15x15 area. by then i was reminding Juan that i have tied my personal best day for silver and wanted to break it. well as luck would have it, the rain that had been holding off all morning was ready to fall on our heads. so the next day i went bakk by myself and pulled two more Mercs from that hot spot. to this day Juan is still amazed those coins were still there after so much traffic over the yrs.. well, thank you Minelab for such a machine. maybe one day my buddy will switch over to the darkside............. oh yea, BTW.. 9 silvers for me at this field. 3 different hunts.
